Suva to leave no stones unturned when it faces Ba

- By MELI LADDPETER

SUVA will be leaving no stones unturned when they take on Ba in the Skipper Cup quarter-Ɲnals this weekend.

Despite going into the match as defending champions, head coach Solomone Nute said they would not be taking Ba lightly.

“Even though they are newcomers to the competition, they have proven themselves over and over again so we will not be taking this game and Ba lightly,” Nute said.

Suva is the defending champions in senior and under-20 grades, and Nute said they intend to keep it that way this year.

“We want to keep our winning streak for the Skipper Cup competition, and we know it will not be easy.”

The side played their last game against Lautoka in the Inkk Farebrother Trophy competition, where they went down 21-19 at Lawaqa Park last month.

Looking at the match, Nute said there are a few key areas his side has been working on in preparing for the elimination rounds.

“Training has been coming along well for the team, we’ve been focusing on areas like our rucks and lineouts, some of the areas of weakness from our last match.”

Nute said he was impressed with how far the Ba side has reached in the competition but vows to go all out against the side on Saturday.

“They have proven to be a very tough team that should not be looked down on and we cannot wait to run onto the Ɲeld against them.”

He also called out to their fans and supporters to come out in numbers to Albert Park and cheer on the team as they look to book a spot in the semis.

“We need our fans and supporters to come out in numbers because it will mean a lot for the boys.

“The atmosphere at camp right now is camp, the boys know what is at stake and they know what they need to do to secure the win and work our way forward.”
