FNPF-owned hotels join ‘Meeting for Good’ initiative
FIJI National Provident Fund-owned InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) hotel properties have joined its global ‘Meeting for Good’ program in a move to strengthen its sustainability initiatives.
The initiative highlights the hotels’ continued dedication to host environmentally friendly meetings and events.
“Being at the forefront of sustainability is not just a responsibility, it’s a passion that drives us,” IHG Hotels & Resorts, FNPF Owned Fiji Hotels Portfolio general manager Lachlan Walker said.
“We are thrilled to lead the way in sustainable meetings, setting a new standard for the hospitality industry in Fiji.
“Our dedication to these initiatives isn’t just about business, it’s about making a positive impact on our planet and communities.”
Mr Walker said they had introduced digital collateral and sales agreements at their Fiji hotels to reduce paper waste, and implemented a linen and towel reuse program to minimise water and energy consumption.
He said those properties offered plasticfree water service and reduced heating, ventilation and air conditioning, and lighting policies to conserve valuable resources.
“Moreover, the utilisation of digital signage for wayfinding purposes not only enhances the guest experience but also eliminates the need for single-use signage, contributing to our eco-friendly initiatives,” Mr Walker said.
He said they had also implemented a comprehensive food waste reduction action plan.
