Business house regatta returns
THE Nadi Bay Canoe Club and Vuda Canoe Club, in partnership with Fiji Outrigger, proudly announce the highly anticipated return of the ‘West Business House Regatta Series.’
Following a successful edition in 2015, businesses are once again invited to partake in an exhilarating and rewarding experience.
Set to take place on March 16 and April 6, presidents Leilani Tokalautawa of Nadi Bay Canoe Club and Dwayne Worthington of Vuda Canoe Club extend a warm welcome to businesses for two days of competitive racing and camaraderie on the pristine Wailoaloa waters.
Expressing her delight, Leilani Tokalautawa stated: “This presents an opportunity for businesses to engage in a sport deeply rooted in our Pacific heritage, promoting wellness in the workplace and fostering appreciation for our ocean.”
Dwayne Worthington, president of Vuda Canoe Club, echoed her sentiments, highlighting: “The Series provides an excellent platform for businesses to build rapport amongst coworkers, create awareness on our marine environment, healthy living as well as preserving our culture in this fast-evolving world we live in today while engaging in competitive racing.”
He further emphasised: “The previous business house regatta in the West was significantly popular, and we are excited to collaborate once again with Nadi Bay Canoe Club and Fiji Outrigger for its revival. With training sessions commencing this weekend, businesses will have ample time to prepare for the races.”
The series will commence with training sessions starting on Saturday, February 17, offering teams over a month of coaching and preparation.
In addition to the races, participants can anticipate an after-function following the second regatta, providing a space for debriefing, networking, and relaxation. Prize giving, featuring trophies and prizes across three divisions – Cup, Plate, and Bowl Competitions for each 2024 West Business House Regatta Series – will celebrate the achievements of teams and the 2024 overall winner.
All proceeds from the series will contribute to the purchase of new club equipment.
“We urge businesses to seize this opportunity and embrace the spirit of competition and camaraderie while also supporting the growth of outrigger canoeing in Fiji,” encouraged Tokalautawa.
Registration is open with an entry fee of $F1000 per team for the West Business House Regatta Series. Interested parties are encouraged to contact the organising committee for details and register early to secure their spot.
