Fight me, Haider tells Junior Binnu
Fiji super featherweight champion Umbayd Haider took to the ring to challenge featherweight champion Junior Binnu Singh for a title fight.
“That’s my title,” Haider told Singh in front of boxing fans at the Vodafone Arena in Suva on Saturday night.
Singh had just defended his title after beating newbie Zeeran Zulfikar Ali in the sixth round. Referee Leca Fotu moved in to stop the fight as Ali was unable to defend himself. The title fight was a mismatch but it was fortunate that Singh had toyed around with him in the earlier rounds before his heavy body punches took its toll on Ali.
Easy win!
Fiji light welterweight boxer Ronald Naidu had too much firepower against challenger Mohammed Ali to win by a unanimous points’ decision.
Ali who spent most of the time clowning in the ring, had most of his swinging punches missing the target and a few had hit Naidu’s gloves.

Crafty Jese Ravudi retained the Fiji welterweight title with a points win over challenger Rakuro Dauvavana.
Although, Ravudi was decked in the 10th round, he had already built up his points from the earlier rounds. Dauvavana seemed to have gone out for a knockout win but it took the wind out of him and it was where Ravudi controlled the fight.

Sebastian Singh put on a master class performance to beat Savenaca Naliva convincingly on points to claim the World Boxing Foundation Asia Pacific cruiserweight title. Naliva fought gallantly but was no match for Singh’s punching combination and ringcraft. The 37-yearold Naliva copped heavy punches toward the end of their 10-round title fight as Singh moved in for the kill. Naliva who had to relinquish the Fiji light heavyweight title because he could not make the weight limit should now decide on whether to retire from the sport.
