War of Words, Boxers Ready to Rumble
Fiji light welterweight champion Ronald Naidu has called on challenger Mohammed Ali to come prepared for their title fight at the Vodafone Arena in Suva on Saturday, June 22.
Speaking to SUNsports, Naidu said he respects Ali because he comes from a boxing family and it is in his blood.
“When it comes to my title, he (Ali) should come prepared,” Naidu said.
“He (Ali) should wear his diaper and come over. There’ll be fireworks in our fight.”
Naidu is the only local boxer to have beaten the newly crowned Fiji super featherweight champion Umbayd Haider (formerly known as Nathan Singh) on a 10th round knockout. qhe hard hitting Nadi boxer has also beaten top boxers like Franco Fraser, Rakuro Dauvavana, Saimoni Ratu, Jese Ravudi, Malakai Marama and Hunter Ioane.
When approached Ali said people always underestimate him but he’ll be the new Fiji light welterweight champion on June 22.
“I’ve been doing well in training.
It’s not going to be an easy fight because I’m a different fighter. I’ll give Ronald Naidu some unbelievable shots (punches) because I’m coming to take away his belt.” Bluewater Boxing Promotions promoter Samir Khan said the stage is set for their second programme in 2024.
“For the first time, there’ll be five title fights, on the same night (June 22) and under one roof,” he said. qhe main bout is for the vacant World Boxing Foundation (WBF) Asia Pacific cruiserweight title fight between former Fiji light heavyweight champion Savenaca
Naliva and stylish Sebastian Singh. qhe second is for the Fiji heavyweight boxing title where holder James ‘qhe Beast’ Singh faces hard hitting Semi Dauloloma. qhe third is Ali challenging Naidu for the Fiji light welter weight title followed by Ravudi defending the Fiji welterweight title against Dauvavana.
The fifth title fight is between Fiji featherweight champion, Junior Binnu Singh against Zeeran Ali. Zeeran is the son of former Fiji boxing star, the late Joy Ali.
