Former Nadi Town Council Special Administrator Chair Lawrence Kumar has urged Christians to always be conscious of God and approach everything with eternity in focus. Mr Kumar, a businessman and an engineer by profession and a Methodist, in his message to celebrate Easter, which was contained in a statement on Wednesday, reminded the Christian community to remember the self-sacrifice of Jesus that brought about the celebration. He congratulated all Christians for being alive to celebrate Easter, despite the economic realities faced as a nation, but it must be done with eternity in focus.

In the statement titled ‘Celebrating the Lord’s Resurrection’, Mr Kumar said that despite the economic reality of Fiji, believers must always strive to be righteous.

“We are once again in that season of the year when we mark the trial, death, and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ,” Mr Kumar said.

“It is indeed worth remembering that it was that self-sacrifice that opened the door to heaven to those who know and follow Him acceptably. We must always remember that Christ, the Prince of Peace, reigns and awaits the coming of His true followers.

He added that it is, therefore, appropriate that Christians, after 40 days of self-denial by fasting in the Lenten season, remember that it does not all end here.

“They should always be God-conscious in their actions, whether in public or private life, realising that God is everywhere. Easter also reminds us that righteousness exalts a nation, and sin is a reproach. All of us, leaders and followers alike, must be Christ-like and live as those believers in Antioch lived,” Mr Kumar said.

IT IS INDEED WORTH REMEMBERING THAT IT WAS THAT SELFSACRIfiCE THAT OPENED the door to heaven to those WHO KNOW AND FOLLOW HIM ACCEPTABLY. Lawrence Kumar
