After a brief illness, on Saturday, December 30, 2023 at Niagara Health Greater Niagara Site just after his 88th birthday. Devoted and loving husband to the late Iola for 66 years. Loving father to Tina (John) Laselva and the late Franco. Proud Nonno to Steven (Kristine) Laselva, Sandra (Jessi) Laselvagoodman, Kyle Curcio, Teanna Curcio (Tye) and Stephanie Camp. "Nonno Luigi" to Arianna, Beau, Mia, Evan, Georgianna, and Luka. Luigi was the eldest brother to Rosa (the late Chris) Grano, Aldo (Josie) Curcio and the late Maria (Carmine) Pantano, and brother-in-law, to the late Mario (Norma) Cosco. Luigi was dedicated to his family and friends, and will be fondly remembered by his many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Born in Patterno Calabro, Cosenza, Italy, but raised in Piane Crati, where he met the love of his life, Iola. He spent the "best time of his life" working for GM but found new passions upon his retirement in 1996-gardening and raising birds. Everyone knew the "Bird Man's" house with all his birdhouses and water fountains on display. Visitors will be received at Bocchinfuso Funeral Home, 2 Regent Street, Thorold on Thursday, January 4, 2024 from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Vigil Prayers recited at 3:30 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, at 11:00 a.m., at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 21 Queen Street South, Thorold. Rite of Committal Pleasantview Memorial Gardens. Donations in Luigi's memory may be made to Heart and Stroke, or Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church. Thank you to the staff at Cobblestone Gardens, where Dad lived for the last four and a half years, for their patience and care.
