1939-2023
A beautiful soul has left us. The family of Claire Denise Hyde (nee Brouillette) passed suddenly at her residence on Friday, December 29th, 2023, in her 84th year. Claire was predeceased by her husband, William Hyde (2018), her parents, Alfred and Dorothy Brouillette, and four siblings, Roland, Roger, Pauline Brouillette, and Marie Counsel. Her siblings, Frances Lebeau, Anna (Pete) Hoekstra, Paul (Sue) Brouillette, and sister-inlaw Claudette Brouillette, are left to mourn her passing. She will be dearly missed by her children, Bill (Ambra) Hyde, Cheryl (Dave) Bilodeau, Sandra Hyde, and Mike (Betsy) Hyde. Claire had eight wonderful grandchildren: Michael Bilodeau, Krista (Jordan) Ristine, Melissa (Charlie) Stewart, Eric (Sara) Hyde, Steven Hyde, Brandon (Sam) Martine, and Neil and Megan Hyde. She loved her six greatgrandchildren, Ella, Noah and Joshua Ristine, and Weston, Drew and Nash Stewart. Claire was born in Sudbury and moved to Welland in her youth. She worked as a switchboard operator for Bell and later for Welland County General Hospital. Mom enjoyed travelling with Dad on their many trips and loved cruising on their boat. Mom had a passion for her Toronto Blue Jays and Toronto Maple Leafs. She developed many wonderful friendships at Portal Village, playing bingo and going on bus trips. She will be missed by her dear friend, Elaine Fitzgerald, and the excellent, caring staff at Portal Village. The family would like to thank Dr. E. Wilson and the Portal Village staff for their excellent care.claire's family will receive visitors at the DAVIDSON FUNERAL HOME, 135 Clarence Street, Port Colborne on Friday, January 5, 2024, from 4-7 pm. Vigil prayers will be recited at the funeral home on Friday at 4:00 pm. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Church, 123 King Street, Port Colborne on Saturday, January 6, 2024, at 11:00 am. with Father Wieslaw Woloszyn as Celebrant. Private Rite of Committal will take place at Oakwood Cemetery at a later time. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, or St. Patrick's Catholic Church.
