Chiefs bringing back their coaching staff

The Lakefield Chiefs announced the 2023-2024 Orr Division Coaching Staff of the Year will be back for the 2024-2025 season. Jamie Arcand returns for an 11th season as head coach joined by Jason Hinze assistant coach (forwards) for a 10th season, Ethan McDougal as assistant coach (defence) for a second season and Terry Walton as assistant coach (defence) for a second season. Also returning is Colin Caley (goalie coach), Kevin Hurley (equipment manager), Seamus McDougal (assistant general manager) and Nick O’Brien (general manager). The Chiefs are looking for two qualified trainers who can commit to one to two games and a practice per week. “As the Chiefs look forward to building on their fourth-place finish last season in the Orr Division, they are excited to switch to the Tod Division for the 2024-2025 season and create new rivalries,” stated a Chiefs press release.

The Chiefs are inviting athletes born between 2003 and 2008 to their upcoming Spring Prospect Camp on June 7 from 6:15 to 8:15 p.m. and June 8 from 10:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. and 2:15 to 4:15 p.m. The camp will be held at the Kinsmen Civic Centre. Players are guaran- teed a minimum of four hours of ice time. Refreshmen­ts, snacks and lunch will be provided on June 8. Players are required to wear a full cage or face shield, as per Ontario Hockey Associatio­n (OHA) rules. Players need to provide a Permis- sion to Skate (PTS) form from their local minor hockey centre or other junior affiliate program. The cost of the prospect camp is $100 for skat- ers and $60 for goalies. Payment is due prior to the first skate on June 7. Registrati­on forms are available on the Chiefs’ website.
