Returning Office now open for Pictou County municipalities
PICTOU – Pictou County voters will head to the polls on Oct. 19, 2024.
Although the election is more than three months away, Returning Officer Josephine MacDonald encourages residents to start thinking about it now.
The Returning Office, which will manage the elections for the six municipalities in Pictou County, is now open, and MacDonald is ready to answer any questions people may have about running for the election or how to vote.
Anyone interested in running for office in the Municipality of Pictou County, Town of New Glasgow, Town of Stellarton, Town of Westville,

Her office is located in the Municipality of Pictou County's Administrative Building at 46 Municipal Drive in Pictou.
Nomination papers can be picked up at the returning office beginning July 15, while the final day to register to become a candidate is Sept. 10, 2024.
All voting in the upcoming October 19 election will be electronic, with voters enjoying the option to vote online or by phone.
Polls will be open on two advance voting days: Oct. 12, 2024, from noon to 8 p.m. and Oct. 15, 2024, from noon to 8 p.m. For these days, kiosks will be set up in each municipality where voters can go if they do not have internet at home or if they otherwise need assistance with electronic voting.
Residents will be able to cast their electronic ballots between noon on Oct. 6, 2024, and Oct. 19, 2024 at 7 p.m. This can be done with any electronic device or at a kiosk on Election Day.
