Third annual Watermark Children’s Theatre Festival set for April

-

Two shows will be featured in the third annual Watermark Children’s Theatre Festival, April 5-7 at the theatre in North Rustico.

“Grumpy & Grimm” by Laura Caswell, produced by Neptune Tour Co of Halifax is April 5-6 and Musical Storytime with P.E.I.’S own Tunes and Tales is April 7. All performances are at 1 p.m. and are for ages five and over with tickets costing $10 for students and $15 for adults.

“We’re thrilled to be able to produce this festival for the third year in a row,” says Watermark artistic director Robert Tsonos.

“It’s so important to the families here in North Rustico and surrounding areas to be able to see entertaining plays for children right here in the community and we plan to continue to mount this festival every year.”

“Grumpy and Grimm” are two quirky friends who have an assignment: to find joy in the stories they tell. The trouble is Grumpy can sometimes be a little negative, and Grimm can turn the simplest situation into a disaster. Is the glass half empty or just misshapen? Audience members help act out some of the classic tales as this goofy pair use the power of storytelling and working together to break through barriers and discover new ways of navigating tough situations.

“Tunes and Tales” is an interactive children's storytelling group. Members include Brieonna Locche, Lucy Farrell and Leah Ellis. “Tunes and Tales” performs original stories with music and illustrations in collaboration with visual artists. Their stories focus on themes of friendship, kindness and bravery, told through the magic of a musical folktale.

Tickets can be purchased at https://locarius.io/organizations/26 or by calling the box office at 902-963-3963.
