Pet of the week: Lucille

A heart waiting to be cherished!

Hello everyone! I’m Lucille, a truly special Spanish water dog. At just 2 years old, I’ve already experience­d a lot. Abandoned at the shelter and adopted twice, unfortunat­ely, I’ve faced rejection each time, mainly due to my reactivity towards unfamiliar faces. Since then, I’ve been fortunate to be surrounded by dedicated caregivers at the shelter who have helped me improve my behavior.

They say I’m a ‘dazzling beauty’ with my brown and beige woolly curls (recently groomed, but they’ll grow back in no time). While I’m energetic and active, I also cherish quiet moments, particular­ly during cuddle sessions and belly rubs. Oh, and I must mention, I’m incredibly affectiona­te! My favorite pastimes include interactiv­e games like tug-of-war and walks in the fields surroundin­g the shelter. I walk well on a leash, but I need a walker who can confidentl­y guide me, as I sometimes tend to pull a bit too much.

Yes, I admit it, I have a confident... and sometimes dominant personalit­y. I’m very intelligen­t and quick to learn. I’m selective and take the time to choose my human carefully. I’m shy around strangers, but once you’ve won my heart, you’ll be the center of my universe, and our connection will be unique.

My future family should have experience with dogs to understand and support me. They’ll provide me with a nurturing and warm environmen­t and take the time to help me in my learning. A home with a fenced yard would be ideal for me, as I love to play and run freely. I get along well with teenagers aged 16 and up. However, I would prefer to be the only pet in my future home. That way, I can enjoy the exclusive attention and love of my new adoptive family.
