Weekend Gold Coast Bulletin

Perfect finish is in order

Victory is all that matters

- Jake Garland

Gold Coast Titans coach Des Hasler has one goal in mind for this weekend’s clash with Queensland rival the Dolphins and that’s just “to win”.

The Titans currently sit 15th on the NRL ladder and mathematically can make the final eight, but they would need to win every game from here to make it.

Gold Coast dropped the round 20 game against Manly which Hasler said was his side was disheartening.

“We were disappointed in ourselves, in our personal performances across the board,” the Sea Eagles legend said.

“There were certainly patches ... we got off to a really good start, but there were probably parts of the game that if we had them over again we would certainly rectify.

“We probably gave Manly a generally easy passage down the middle of the field.”

With plenty to work on for the Titans if they are to play finals, Hasler said his players hadn’t given up hope.

“We know we’re a chance but we can only control that by win

ning,” he said. “What happens above us, we’re not totally naive to think that it’s just going to happen.

“It is very congested, so what ever happens in the next couple of weeks will be very important for us.”

There are seven weeks left of the NRL home-and-away season, with the Titans playing four teams currently inside the top eight.

They also have clashes against the 11th-placed Brisbane Broncos in round 21 and St George Illawarra Dragons, who are sitting ninth, in round 24.

“Historically, that’s a good thing,” Hasler said.

“That’s because it makes you produce your best.

“It will be a really competitive game for both sides (Titans and Dolphins), and it’s a game both sides need to win.

“I think that it will be a cracker game.”

The must-win match for the t Titans kicks off at 4.05pm on Sunday at Suncorp Stadium.
