Stolen Hilux utility set on fire

A stolen utility was set on fire in Lardner Rd, Drouin on Tuesday night.

Police said the white Toyota Hilux was stolen from Longwarry before the 8pm fire.

A witness reported seeing three people standing and laughing near the vehicle, police said. They were allegedly seen lighting a small fire under the vehicle, which was quickly engulfed in flames.

The CFA attended and noted the utility’s lights were still on and engine ticking over.

Such was the heat of the fire, police reported the back aluminium tray melted.

A vehicle was stolen from a driveway in Yarragon overnight on Sunday, June 9.

Police allege the 2019 Toyota Landcruise­r was stolen from Moe River Rd. The vehicle was parked in a driveway but police said it was possibly left unlocked.

The vehicle was fitted with a tool box on the tray, containing a significan­t number of tools.

In a separate incident, police saw a stolen vehicle in Drouin on the same night.

Police observed the 2017 silver Mitsubishi Outlander in Palladium Blvd at 1.50am on Monday, June 10.

They attempted to intercept the vehicle as it travelled north along Princes Way towards Longwarry. However, it sped away, heading towards Drouin.

The driver was described as a Caucasian male with black or brown curly hair sticking out from under a beanie. It appeared no passengers were in the vehicle.

Police allege the vehicle was stolen during an aggravated burglary at Barker Cres, Traralgon on Saturday, June 8 at 2.35am.
