RACE, DRIVE, SURVIVE!
> DRAG CHALLENGE 2024 SELLS OUT, WITH TWO ‘RODS OUT’ BURNOUT COMPS ADDED TO DRIVE YOUR ENTERTAINMENT DOLLAR FURTHER
ENTRIES for Street Machine Drag Challenge 2024 have sold out! Some 220 maniacs from every state and territory are set to converge on Calder Park Raceway on 30 October for the first day of racing.
The entry list is chockers with incredible cars, including reigning champion Mark Drew in the ‘Crusty’ Torana, Adam Rogash’s six-second Capri, Graeme Horner’s VH Commodore, Barry Hall in the Rod Shop VL, and Keith Hards in FAIRXW. There’s also a stack of very tough six-cylinders entered, including a handful that are running deep in the sevens.
Of course, Drag Challenge isn’t just about the heavy hitters, and as always, a fleet of crazy home-brewed creations are lined up for a week of fun, including a brutal turbo 4A-gepowered Corolla running in Tuff Mounts 235 Blown, Jamie Heritage’s wild all-wheel-drive TA22 Celica, and even a massive Ford Galaxie wagon.
All of that means we’ll have pits crammed with fascinating cars for you to check out, and six hours of Australia’s toughest street cars duking it out each day on track.
And to drive your entertainment dollar further, we’ve added a new burnout event called Rods Out to the program. Rods Out 1 is running on Friday 1 November at Dragway at the Bend from 5pm to 8pm, after the conclusion of racing. That’ll be followed up by Rods Out 2 on Saturday 2 November at Heathcote Park Raceway, running side-byside with Drag Challenge racing until 8pm. Woo!
The event will climax back at Calder Park on 3 November, with a massive day of racing from 10am to 4pm. We’ll have a DJ pumping in the pits, a cars-and-coffee along pit straight, and a VIP Grudge Challenge from 4pm, where a hand-picked group of tough streeters will hit the strip alongside any Drag Challenge competitors who can’t get enough. It will be huge!
